The future of luxury electric SUVs is coming to Ray Catena Lexus of Freehold, and it's closer than you think.

The all-new 2027 Lexus TZ, Lexus's first-ever all-electric three-row SUV, is arriving Fall 2026, and our Freehold Lexus dealership will be one of the first places in New Jersey where you can experience it in person.

Built on Toyota's evolved New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the TZ blends Lexus's signature luxury refinement with a fully electric powertrain, dynamic rear steering, and a cabin so quiet it has been described as among the quietest SUV interiors in the world.

Powertrain & Range

The TZ is offered in two battery configurations: a 76.96 kWh pack and a larger 95.82 kWh pack, with an estimated maximum range of up to 300 miles on a full charge.

Both versions use a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup as standard, unlike the related Toyota Highlander EV. The top-specification version is reported to produce up to 402 horsepower, and despite a substantial curb weight of approximately 5,798 lbs, the TZ sprints from 0–62 mph in just 5.4 seconds.

U.S. models are equipped with a NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, supporting up to 150 kW DC fast charging which is enough to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 35 minutes.

Dimensions

  • Length: 200.8 in
  • Width: 78.3 in
  • Height: 67.1 in
  • Wheelbase: 120.1 in (nearly 8 inches longer than the gas TX)
  • Towing Capacity: Up to 3,500 lbs
  • Drag Coefficient: 0.27 Cd

Interior & Comfort

Lexus designed the TZ's cabin as a "Driving Lounge" concept centered on maximizing spaciousness, quietness, and comfort across all three rows. The extended wheelbase pays dividends in generous second and third-row legroom, and the low floor afforded by the EV platform creates an airy, open feel throughout.

Notable interior highlights include:

  • World's longest sliding panoramic roof with a power sunshade and wire-driven system preserving maximum headroom
  • Ventilated seats for both the first and second rows, a Lexus first
  • Power ottomans for first and second-row passengers
  • One-touch power fold for both the second and third rows
  • 21-speaker Mark Levinson PurePlay Reference audio system
  • Available 20-inch or 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in low-rolling-resistance tires
  • Six-passenger seating standard

Lexus engineered the TZ to be acoustically exceptional, incorporating sound-absorbing materials, vibration-frequency-offsetting design elements, and aerodynamic mirrors to virtually eliminate road and wind noise. Toyota's Chief Branding Officer Simon Humphries called it "one of the quietest, if not the quietest, SUV cabins in the world."

Technology

The TZ comes loaded with connected technology built around the Lexus Interface multimedia system, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and Spotify integration. The signature 14-inch Lexus touchscreen anchors the cabin tech experience, supported by the full suite of Lexus connected services.

Driver-selectable modes include Normal, Sport, Eco, Range, and a unique Rear Comfort mode, a TZ-exclusive feature that uses the rear-wheel steering, brake force optimization, and drive force distribution to minimize pitching and lateral motion for second and third-row passengers, making longer journeys noticeably smoother for family members riding in the back.

Safety

The 2027 TZ debuts Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 (LSS+ 4.0), the brand's most advanced active safety suite to date, as standard on every model. Updated hardware and improved sensors expand the range of scenarios the system can detect and react to.

Standard features include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Lane Change Assist
  • Intersection Turn Assist
  • Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Warning
  • Safe Exit Assist monitors for passing vehicles before allowing passengers to open doors

The dynamic rear steering also contributes to active safety, turning rear wheels up to 4 degrees at highway speeds to enhance stability and reduce the risk of oversteer.

Pricing & Availability

Official pricing has not yet been confirmed by Lexus, but industry sources and estimates point to a starting price range of around $65,000–$70,000* with upper trims expected to reach the mid-$70,000s*.

The TZ is expected to go on sale in the United States before the end of 2026. Lexus has confirmed that full pricing, trim levels, and specifications will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
